Please spread these vids around!

If you're reading this, you know at least one person who rides a motorcycle. With that in mind, please spread the below vids around as much as possible. Awareness is a motorcyclist's best friend!

This is a PSA by New York's DMV.

This is a direct link to a PSA from the United Kingdom with the same basic principle.

Riders, it never hurts to spread the word that we're out there. As a new rider, these two vids more or less sum up my worst nightmare scenario. Remind everyone to watch for motorcycles and ride safe. :)

Erik, shouldn't we just watch out and pay attention to all the traffic that's out there? I know that I wouldn't want some dumb ass who isn't paying attention to what he's doing to plow into me and the girls. I think the moral here is everyone should pay more attention to the road and all oncoming traffic...then it will be a much safer place to drive for all vehicles.

I know on a motorcycle, your injuries would be more severe than those of someone who gets hit while in their car, but regardless I think we just need to spread the word that people should just pay attention to their driving in general.

The thing is, motorcycles are often ignored, because they are smaller, more vertically oriented (more likely to be obscured by visual obstacles), and they do not pose an immediate threat to cars. People pull the "I didn't see him officer" stuff in just about every accident, but the repercussions are much worse in a motorcycle vs automobile collision. I don't want anyone hitting you either, and yes, people do need to pay more attention in general, but the only PSAs I had available were for bikes. :)
